Montse Cortés

Montse Cortés

Undoubtedly, this Catalan gypsy woman with Granada ancestors, daughter of Andalusians, is one of the young voices of the most genuine flamenco accent. She has worked with the most significant flamenco guitarists like Paco de Lucía with whom she went on tour for 3 years, Tomatito, Vicente Amigo and El Viejín.

And she has collaborated with great dance figures like Antonio Canales, Joaquín Cortés, Farruquito, Eva la Yerbabuena, Belén Maya, Sara Baras among others.

Her career as soloist marks her as one of the reference voices of current flamenco. Since 2012 she is presenting her new album "Flamencas en la sombra", visiting the most important national festivals.

In 2014 she premiered "En cante a dos" with the Israeli singer Yasmin Levy at the Spanish Theatre (Teatro Español) in Madrid  and now she is preparing her new project "Con Serrat Cortés y Salazar" with the jazz singer Edith Salazar.

Her voice sounds in outstanding recordings, and she is one of the most requested cantaoras to realize different musical collaborations.

In 2013 she presented her show "Flamencas en la sombra" with which she acted at several importante festivals and theatres: the Festival Quijote in Paris, the Biennial of Flamenco in Seville or the Centre of Musical Diffusion in Madrid.

In 2014 she shared stage with the Israeli singer Yasmin Levy in the spectacle "En cante a dos" that was premiered at the Teatro Español in Madrid.

In 2015 she went on tour with “Artists en ruta” and participated in several festivals such as the Parapanda Folk Festival of Granada.

In 2016, her show "El cante es oro" (The song is gold) was selected to participate in the Madrid Activa circuit.

She has recently participated in the Flamenco Days of Fuenlabrada with Yasmin Levy.
