Antonio Fernández Montoya (Seville, 1988) Flamenco dancer

Antonio Fernández Montoya “Farruco”, son of the flamenco dancer La Farruca and brother of the famous dancer "Farruquito".

He was born in Seville in 1988 and took the stage name of his grandfather. His first performance on the big stage was in Berlin at the age of two; and when he was only 6 years old, he took part in the film directed by his grandfather “Bodas de Gloria” .

In 1998, at the age of 10, he formed his own company “Gnomos del Flamenco” with which Farruco took part in numerous festivals in Spain and other countries and cities as Cologne and Kiev.

In January of 2001 together with Francis Brunn’s he took part in the performance “Incógnito”.

The same year he participated in his brother’s show “Farruquito y Familia” in New York. This was their first tour in the USA. In October of 2001 he toured with another show in which he performed as a soloist together with Antonio Canales in Mexico.

In spite of being so young, Farruco has played a very special role in such shows created by his brother as Raíces Flamencas, La Len Varó, Por Derecho of Alma Vieja. In all of them he stands out as a unique dancer with much power.

In 2005 he was invited as the protagonist for the film El Triunfo by Catalan director Mireia Ros. At the Spanish Film Festival in Malaga in 2006 this movie with Farruco performing  together with Ángela Molina, Juan Diego and other great artists, won the “Silver Biznaga to the Best Soundtrack”.

In 2005 he came on stage with his mother La Farruca in the latest family production Los Farruco. In 2006 he presented his new show “FARRUCO” at the NY City Center and other theatres. Later the dancer toured the world with this work.

At the same time he continued the tour with the show “AL NATURAL” produced by  Pino Sagliocco and presented for the first time in 2007. In this performance Farruco danced with his cousin "El Barullo" and dancer "José Maya".

In 2008/09 he went on tour with the other family show  “LOS FARRUCO” in which he worked as a director.  This performance was acclaimed at the prestigious Flamenco Festival of the U.S.A that gave Farruco a chance to go to the most important theatres such as New York CITY CENTER or London SALDERS WELLS.

Besides being a flamenco dancer, Farruco has collaborated as author in different discs and shows of the famous artists: Tomatito, Makarines or El Barrio. For example, he composed some musical themes and wrote certain lyrics for the latest Farruquito’s show “PURO”.

In 2010 Farruco gets the award "Best dancer of the year" and begins an extensive tour with Paco de Lucia around the world, giving concerts in more than hundred theatres. All these facts prove that this young dancer possesses talent and charisma, energy and power that can leave no one indifferent.

Being an anxious and eclectic artist, Farruco has explored different sectors, posing like a model for famous magazines such as Vogue or Woman, or collaborating with the pop-artists Destiny's Child, Beyoncé Knwoles, Paulina Rubio, Marc Anthony, the producer Javier Limón and even with the Spanish soprano Ahinoa Arteta, or with singer Isabel Pantoja with whom he performed in the Christmas Gala 2011 (Telecinco).

Undoubtedly, Farruco is a versatile artist who begins his career, staying true to his flamenco roots.
